The single board computer was born when Ampro made the 'Little Board' in 1983. The first embedded computer board compact, simple and reliable enough to be easily integrated directly within other devices.
Blue Chip Technology have been designing and manufacturing single board computers for over 25 years. We offer a full BSP and custom image as standard across the range and a custom design service. Our embedded computers have a three year warranty and a typical five years product availability. |

PC104: this ubiquitous single board computer has a diminutive 90mm x 96mm footprint. Originally specified as PC104 (ISA bus only), the form factor now has PC104 + (ISA and PCI) and PCI104 (PCI only) variations. A unique stacked configuration gives the PC104 single board computer great expansion and a rugged build. |

ETX: the most successful System on Module (SOM) standard on the market. The ETX module, measuring 114mm x 95mm, is a core processor unit which interfaces to a host board. This carrier board may have any form factor, connectors, IC circuits etc and represents a low cost development. The end result is a competitive, tailor-made yet upgradeble embedded computer board. |
 |
Biscuit: the original Biscuit single board computer measures 146mm x 203 mm (the size of a 5.25"drive). These boards are highly integrated, containing all of the functions of a full PC system. The Half Biscuit is an even more compact embedded computer board, designed to the dimensions of a 3.5" floppy disk, yet it still provides "real-world" I/O and power connectors and does not require a baseboard for use in a system. |
 |
Slot Card: Originating in the Computer-Telephony Integration (CTI) market, a passive-backplane architecture dispenses with the traditional motherboard. In a passive backplane PC, a system bus is used to interconnect a slot processor board and multiple plug-in add-on boards. This architecture makes rapid system repair or upgrades by board substitution possible and has considerable scope for system expansion. |

Custom Design: Blue Chip Technology solves many problems for its customers - board layout, temperature or space constraints and specialised IO. We can also develop customised images, BIOS and drivers for specialised hardware, working in Microsoft XP embedded, CE.net, QNX and Linux. |
