If you are, you've got a pretty defined wishlist for your embedded hardware core - small, very low power, probably needs an LCD control display and telematics support would be great. We can tick all of these boxes for you and make it very cost effective. The RE series of single board computers from Blue Chip Technology are the perfect fit for handheld wireless devices. Our RE boards have a typical power dissemination of circa 2 watts, support advanced power management modes and are about the same footprint as a playing card - perfect for a handheld device with an extended battery life. They pack in an impressive performance - the entry level RE1 board runs at 300MHz or 500MHz, a versatile embedded engine capable of driving colour TFT touchscreen interfaces up to 800 x 600 resolution. Whilst the higher performance RE2 incorporates a 600/720MHz ARM Cortex A8 CPU with 430/520MHz C64x DSP which can support 720p resolution video content. All of the key hardware features needed to provide a solid embedded platform are present - 512MB Flash memory, Serial Ports (3), 10/100Mbit Ethernet, Audio, Touch Screen controller, optional SD, USB Host Ports, USB Device Port and 12 general purpose I/Os. For telematics based applications, the RE2 SBC also supports Wi-fi, Bluetooth, full optional GPRS/GPS functionality, onboard accelerometer and extended temperature ranges. Applications can run on WIN CE 6.0 or Linux kernel operating systems with a covering Board Support Package (BSP) to speed up application development. Both RE embedded boards can be bought standalone or as part of our REsolution display kit, which brings together all the basic building blocks needed for a versatile embedded HMI module. The resulting package is an integrated solution which is small and low power for fanless operation. You don’t have to manage the associated issues of integrating a display and embedded board – the mounting, cabling, signalling, power and connectors are all sorted out. The whole package is managed for long term availability and problem free fit, form and function upgrades.
