The simple monochrome text display has lost its footing with the Iphone generation, the new wave of touchscreen phones have changed the way people want to interact with displays. Manufacturers are faced with the challenge of updating their device control panels from monochrome static displays to colour TFT touchscreen LCDs. The REsolution single board computer and display kit brings together all the basic building blocks needed for a versatile embedded HMI module. The resulting package is an integrated solution which is small and low power for fanless operation. You don’t have to manage the associated issues of integrating a display and embedded board – the mounting, cabling, signalling, power and connectors are all sorted out. The whole package is managed for long term availability and problem free fit, form and function upgrades.

REsolution is designed around the RE series of single board computers - the entry level RE1 board runs at 300MHz or 500MHz, a versatile embedded engine capable of driving colour TFT touchscreen interfaces up to 800 x 600 resolution. The higher performance RE2 incorporates a 600/720MHz ARM Cortex A8 CPU with 430MHz C65X DSP which can support 720p resolution video content, camera interface, Wi-fi Bluetooth and full GPRS/GPS functionality. Both boards have a typical power dissipation of circa 2 watts. All of the key hardware features needed to provide a solid embedded platform are present - 512MB Flash memory, Serial Ports (3), 10/100Mbit Ethernet, Audio, Touch Screen controller, optional SD , USB Host Ports, USB Device Port and 12 general purpose I/Os.
All of this functionality has been designed into a board similar in size to a playing card.
The RE boards comes with an USB enabled Windows CE 6.0 bootloader and supporting Windows desktop configuration utility. This unique GUI facility lets the user quickly optimise their board settings and start developing within minutes of opening the box.
