Designed specifically for driving plasma/LCD and other widescreen displays 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, Vario + brings power and performance to your digital signage application. The Vario + delivers Pentium® 4 performance and supports up to 2GB of ultra fast DDR SDRAM.. Operating system and application storage can be supported by either an ATA 100 hard drive, in a variety of sizes, or in truly harsh environments - flash drives. Where removable media is required, optional slimline CD, CD RW, DVD or floppy drives can be fitted.

The onboard Intel® Extreme Graphics® features Dynamic Video Technology and Zone Rendering Technology and delivers unrivalled 2D and 3D 16:9 performance. Whether your display requires 848x480, 1024x512, 1024x1024, 1280x768 or indeed tomorrow’s next standard resolution, you can be assured that Vario + will support it. With previous PC engines switching to portrait mode either degraded performance significantly or involved extra content preparation. Not with Vario +, both landscape and portrait modes are supported in hardware with MPEGII decoding delivered through CRT, DVI or S-Video outputs.

Should you need tomorrows video performance, Vario + allows you to plug in the AGP video card of your choice to deliver a graphics bandwidth of over 1GB/s. To complete the multimedia experience, the onboard audio system can be configured from stereo to a full 5.1 surround sound system. To minimize cabling costs, Vario + provides a wide range of high-speed communications interfaces. Whether you need a fast LAN or the latest USB 2.0 with 480 Mbps of bandwidth on tap, Vario + has them all.

Need to support legacy devices? Dual RS232 serial and one multi mode Parallel port are at your disposal. Where your project needs something a little different or just future proofing for the unexpected wireless, PCMCIA, dedicated MPEG decoders, etc all can be supported by plugging a card into the internal PCI 2.2 slot. Finally to ensure your expensive displays are protected from an application failure, Vario + has a built in, programmable hardware watchdog.
