The ETX-945GSE brings another Atom based board to the Computer on Module (COM) range. Powered by the Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz processor with Intel 945GSE+ ICH7M chipset, this multi-functioned ETX CPU Module comes with a memory slot for a 200-pin DDR II 400/533 SODIMM, so the lower power performance of the Atom™ processor can be enhanced with up to 2GB of system memory. Ethernet communication at 10/100Base-T is supported by the onboard Intel® EP82562ET chipset and system communication can be designed in, using the ETX-945GSE’s support for one parallel port, two RS-232 serial ports and four USB 2.0 ports. This ETX module will also support two IDE storage devices on the carrier board as well as two SATA II devices that can connect directly to the module.
The Intel® 945GSE integrated display controller can be configured to support CRT/LCD, CRT/TV and LCD/TV with simultaneous and dual view displays. LCD support comes in the form of 24-bit LVDS, with a resolution of up to 1600 x 1200. The ETX module also supports an SDVO connector on the carrier board to complete the picture of what the ETX-945GSE can offer in terms of high quality and performance in display support.
The ETX format marries a core Computer on Module (COM) with a host board. The core module includes all the usual computer functions on a 114mm x 95mm footprint, with a standardised connector and signal layout. The COM connects to a host board which is tailored to the developer's application and fully compatible with present and future ETX modules. This arrangement offers all the advantages of a custom solution but with a simple migration path, reduced engineering effort and faster time to market.
