Blue Chip Technology’s new Vario E3 is ideal for users who must run emerging and truly demanding graphics applications on large screens with uncompromised picture quality. With a quad core AM3 CPU socket and onboard AMD®880G graphics, the Vario E3 offers latest-technology desktop PC performance in a ruggedised, slimline enclosure. The unit can be mounted behind large display screens in stations, schools, shopping malls and similar challenging environments for continuous unattended 24/7 playout.The 880G GPU supports Microsoft® DirectX 10.1, dual video out (VGA and DVI-D/HDMI) and runs AMD UVD for Blu-Ray and HD-DVD content. Graphics capability is matched by the Vario E3’s audio system, which allows any configuration from simple stereo to a full 7.1 surround system or High Definition Audio with multi-streaming support. With power- and processor-intensive video decoding offloaded from the CPU to the graphics core, and up to 16 GB of ultra fast ECC/non-ECC DDR3 SDRAM, the Vario E3 drives all internal and optional expansion functions without compromising its multimedia performance.
The Vario E3 offers versatile and powerful expansion capabilities such as advanced PCI Express graphics through two optional expansion slots which accept PCI Express x16 and 32-bit PCI cards. Internal features include Gigabit LAN, optional Wireless LAN, VGA interface, DVI/HDMI interface, one serial port, six USB (2.0) ports and options for Compact Flash memory, a slim-line DVD RW optical drive and a TV tuner card. Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit), Windows® XP Pro for Embedded Systems, Windows®XP Embedded and Linux operating systems are supported.
With support for 30” to 50” screens of resolutions to 1920 x 1080p, the Vario E3 is a high-performance multi-media engine; this design is complemented by its high reliability implementation. Its sheet steel enclosure provides mechanical and EMC protection. The unit is shock and vibration rated for light industrial operation, and uses high MTBF disk drives. It has an operating temperature range of up to 0¢ĒC to +50¢ĒC and a relative humidity rating of 10 – 85% non-condensing. CPU and system temperature, and CPU core, DRAM and NB voltage can be monitored. A watchdog timer option is available. With its slimline 1U profile, the Vario E3 can be unobtrusively mounted behind the display screen. A rack-mounting option is also available.
