A Marathon Effort for Mike

« back to news

Congratulations to Blue Chip Technology Buyer, Mike Weilding, who completed the 2009 London Marathon in April. The London Marathon attracts over 45,000 runners and half a million spectators each year, and it is one of the most prestigious events in the sporting calendar.  The London Marathon is just phase one of a two part effort to raise over £1000 for the children’s charity CLIMB, and with over £500 worth of donations so far, Mike looks well on track. After a well earned rest, training begins again for the Dublin marathon in October later this year. Mike, a first time marathon runner, completed the course in a respectable 4 hrs 45mins - "the last five miles was the hardest – I had a permanent cramp and literally hobbled over the finish line," said Mike, "but it was an amazing day, I was exhausted but extremely happy to have made the finish line."

Climb is the National Information and Advice Centre for Metabolic Diseases and is the only charity in the UK to provide advice, information and support to children, young adults, families and professionals affected by metabolic diseases. Climb also funds research into these devastating diseases. For more information see Mike's fundraising page at http://www.justgiving.com/mikew-london.
